The True Essence of Camp
Camps are often seen as places for laughter, games, and outdoor adventures. However, they embody something much deeper. At their core, camps are about fostering values of Belonging, Growth, and Togetherness, with a dash of Adventure thrown into the mix. These experiences offer more than just a good time; they cultivate essential life skills and create memories that last a lifetime.
Camp is much more than just a week of fun. It is a transformative experience that instills values and skills essential for life. By focusing on belonging, growth, togetherness, and adventure, campers leave with more than memories; they leave with a foundation for a bright future.
The classic summer camp experience comes alive at Kuriakos, where children embark on a journey filled with new adventures, build lasting friendships, and develop essential life skills. Our camp is centered around the values of Belonging, Growth, and Togetherness, creating memories that last a lifetime.
The Leadership in Training (LIT) program provides young individuals with opportunities for growth through training, spiritual development, and leadership enhancement. Participants can join the program in one of two roles: SITs or STANDs. Each role offers unique skills and experiences.
Kuriakos Outdoor School offers a unique and invigorating educational experience for all age groups, combining the wonders of the natural world with structured learning. Our programs are designed to foster growth, build leadership skills, and encourage teamwork in an engaging environment.

Land Acknowledgement
Kuriakos is in Treaty Six, East of the Rockies, between the Athabasca and Red Deer rivers,
on what the Cree call Kinepik, or Snake Lake.
We share and care for this land with Indigenous Peoples who were here before us.
We are ALL Treaty Six people.
With gratitude and mutual respect, Kuriakos acknowledges that we live, work, play and worship on Treaty 6 lands that are ancestral meeting grounds, gathering places, and travel routes for many First Nations including the Cree, Dene, Blackfoot, Saulteaux and Nakota Sioux. We also acknowledge the Metis people of the Red Deer Metis District within the Battle River Territory who call Treaty 6 home. We respect all people who share, celebrate and care for the Treaty 6 territory of central Alberta and we honour the original caretakers of the land who remind us of the ongoing histories that precede us. We also recognize our shared responsibilities going forward to help bring everyone together on this journey of Truth and Reconciliation.
