About the Special General Meeting

The proposed bylaw revision is the result of two years of work to bring our bylaws up to date and carefully consider how they can support the future of Kuriakos in the most effective way.

At the 2024 AGM, the membership approved an update to the Sylvan Lake Lutheran Bible Camp Association bylaws. When those bylaws were submitted to Alberta Registries, they were returned because a Statement of Faith could no longer be incorporated into the bylaws. The Board considered this a significant change and chose to undertake a broader review of the bylaws.

A Bylaws Working Group was formed in December 2025. The original plan was to have new bylaws ready for approval at the 2026 AGM; however, the Working Group identified several important changes that would benefit from input at the AGM. That feedback has been incorporated into the proposed bylaws being recommended to the membership at this Special General Meeting.

The Working Group was guided by the following:

  • Our future must be grounded in our Lutheran heritage and faith.
  • Maintaining and nurturing relationships with congregations is important to our mission.
  • Protecting the land and the Kuriakos commitment to being a place set apart to be together is key to our future.
  • Ensuring a strong membership in support of the Kuriakos mission is required for our success.
