Our Program Team

Each season, we are joined by a dedicated and talented team of cabin leaders, activity leaders, and support staff.

Come meet them at camp! They'll show you around our community, and help you learn + grow.

Applications are now open for 2024!

Qualified Instructors

Each summer staff member receives 2 weeks of training (twice the industry standard!).

  • Week 1 covers curriculum components and Alberta Camping Association requirements. Staff members learn about our Bible Study curriculum, and practice leading sessions. They also cover topics like camper management and group facilitation.
  • Week 2 is focussed on specific activity practice and preparation for hosting campers.

All staff have Standard First Aid and CPR-C. As needed, they receive specialized training or certification in Ropes Course Facilitation, NL Lifeguarding, Paddle Canada Canoe Instruction, and Outdoor Council of Canada Field Leadership.

Mature Leaders

Kuriakos counsellors must be at least 1 year out of high school. Many are current university or college students, and all have past experience working with children and youth.

About the Kuriakos Team

Our Seasonal Team includes Program Staff and Support Staff.

Program Staff are our front-line team, working directly with campers.

  • Program Coordinators provide leadership to the daily flow of camp. They plan and lead wide games, facilitate worship, organize special events and provide mentoring and support to the Program Team Members.
  • Program Team Members lead activities, Bible Studies, and campfires, but most importantly, they lead a cabin group. Campers are assigned to a cabin group, which becomes their family away from home. With care and instruction from their trained and committed Cabin Leader, campers accomplish things they've never dreamed of doing. All of our Program Staff must demonstrate experience working with children, and must be at least a year our of high school. This ensures our cabin leaders have the enthusiasm to lead a group of campers, and the maturity to do so effectively. They also participate in two weeks of training to ecome familiar with the programs, activities and Bible Studies they will lead.

Our Support Team includes Food Services Team Members and Support Team Members.

  • Food Service Team Members have a passion for camp, and experience cooking great meals. They believe in providing campers and staff with healthy, delicious meals that give them energy to enjoy all that camp has in store.
  • Support Team Members may be new High School Graduates, and they serve in many roles, both behind the scenes and directly with campers. These staff participate in training and help to lead activities and cabin groups, and help to keep camp running smoothly by cleaning bathrooms, helping in the kitchen and helping with maintenance.

Our Staff Goals

Through training and life in community, we work with our incredible staff to build up our campers and themselves.

These team goals have been developed over years of learning together, receiving instruction from some wonderful leaders and resources... and working with some amazing teams!
